Puppy and Kitten Programs

We spend quite a bit of time teaching owners “the ropes” of new pet adoption.  At all puppy and kitten first exam visits, we cover physical exams, preventative medicine, training, feeding, and responsible pet ownership.  We want the bond between you and your pet to begin as early as possible! return to top

Heartworm Prevention

Since mosquitoes almost outnumber people in Central Texas, we really stress the importance of once a month heartworm prevention all year around.  We have multiple options for providing excellent heartworm prevention. return to top

Dentistry

Our dental program is state of the art.  We provide special check in procedures for dental cleanings, and multiple at home options for more preventative care.  We should have dental xray available within the year.  Keeping your pet’s teeth and oral cavity healthy is one of the most important ways to keep your pet happy and comfortable! return to top

Digital radiology

We have a brand new state of the art digital xray imaging system.  This system allows us to take your pet’s xrays more quickly, get the results to you more quickly, more accurately diagnose your pet’s problem, and use telecommunication to more quickly provide information to specialists in the area. return to top

Ultrasound

AUVC has several ways to provide higher imaging techniques to our clients.  Almost on a daily basis, we can have ultrasound services provided in order to serve our patients more thoroughly. return to top

Dermatology

Skin allergies, ear infections, and other skin related issues are an unfortunate frequent occurrence in pets in the Austin area.  We strive to provide the best treatment plan for your pets in order to keep them  more comfortable.  We also have access to several board certified dermatologists as a referral source for our patients. return to top

Endocrine

As a pet ages, thyroid disease, diabetes, and adrenal gland disease can become primary problems.  The veterinarians at AUVC are experienced in handling these chronic cases and helping both the client and patient learn to control these diseases. return to top

In house laboratory services

AUVC has in house CBC, chemistry, coagulation,  and blood typing capabilities.  We can typically have bloodwork results to our clients within a half hour.  We are also fortunate to have extensive outside lab capabilities in order to accommodate our more specific testing needs. return to top

Chemotherapy

Cancer has come to the forefront unfortunately more often than we would like.  However, if your pet is diagnosed with a form of cancer, AUVC is able to assist in chemotherapy protocols that may be necessary for your pet.  We also have access to 2 board certified veterinary oncologists in Austin to utilize for more involved treatment cases. return to top

Microchip

No one wants their pet to run away from home.  However, if they do, we want you to be able to get them back.  Microchipping your pet increases your chances of recovering your pet if he or she is lost.  AUVC has a microchipping system that is universal to all scanners worldwide. return to top

Surgical

Spay/neuter/declaw

AUVC is very experienced in controlling the pet population by spaying and neutering pets. We utilize state of the art monitoring equipment and our anesthesia protocols make for a smooth recovery.  Although declawing is controversial, AUVC realizes that sometimes it is necessary.  We will be happy to help you through that process that involves plenty of high end pain management. return to top

Soft tisuue

Gastrointestinal emergencies, tumors on the skin and in the abdomen, broken legs, dislocated joints, and other soft tissue  and orthopedic problems can occur throughout a pet’s life.  AUVC is always prepared to perform soft tissue and orthopedic surgery in these instances, utilizing the same high tech monitoring, IV catheters and fluids, specific anesthetic protocols, and pain management.  Again, we are prepared to utilize board certified veterinary surgeons for referral when it is necessary. return to top

Anesthesia Protocols and Monitoring

Austin Urban Veterinary Center knows that the thought of putting a loved one under anesthesia can be stressful.  We will discuss all of the risks and safety measures we take with each case in order to put you more at ease.   We also have extensive monitoring during each anesthetic procedure. return to top
